An iconic venue for classical music concerts is the Liszt Academy, with its typical start time at 7:00 PM. Our new series, altering the classic trio of genre-venue-time, aims to reach a new audience by targeting the afternoon time slot on weekends. This provides an opportunity for both younger and older generations to discover the classics of the musical repertoire, while also offering a chance for the young talents of the Liszt Academy to showcase their skills. In the second concert, three young talents—Sebestyén Sztathatosz, Sarah Moser, and Ádám Szokolay—will perform. Their diverse programme includes works by Schubert, along with pieces by French composers from around the turn of the century. The compositions of the Boulanger sisters, Nadia and the tragically short-lived Lili, show a subtle influence of Debussy’s impressionism in the closing piece of the concert. The works of the two sisters are separated by a popular work by Maurice Ravel. Despite its title, this piece does not feature a single original Gypsy folk melody, yet it stylistically evokes the spirit of Gypsy instrumental music.
