Chamber Recital by Zoltán Takács and Friends
Presented by Liszt Academy
Pejačević: Piano Quartet in D minor, Op. 25
Leiviskä: Piano Quartet in A major, Op. 1
Zoltán Takács (violin), János Fejérvári (viola), György Éder (cello), Sugii Yuki Farkas (piano)
The chamber recital by Zoltán Takács, János Fejérvári, György Éder and Sugii Yuki Farkas will focus on works by two lesser-known European composers. The first piece is a D minor piano quartet by Dora Pejačević (1885-1923), a composer of Croatian-Hungarian origin, while the second is a piano quartet in A major by the Finnish composer Helvi Leiviskä (1902-1982). Although the artistic output of both composers is rooted in 20th-century Europe, the generation gap between them, their place of residence and their family backgrounds (Pejačević was born into a noble family, while Leiviskä worked as a librarian and teacher) mean that they represent very different musical worlds. The performers will therefore take the audience on an exciting musical journey. The concert is supported by the Niilo Helander Foundation in Finland.
