The Russian National Philharmonic Orchestra was founded in January 2003 and is made up of the best orchestral musicians and talented young musicians. During its activity, the ensemble has managed to become one of the best symphony orchestras in Russia, winning the admiration of the public and the recognition of the profession. Their leader is the world-renowned violinist and conductor Vladimir Spivakov, who has worked with such famous conductors as Michel Plasson, Vladimir Ashkenazy, James Conlon, Jukka-Pekka Saraste and others. Their repertoire, which ranges from early classical symphonies to recent works by modern composers, features the music of their homeland, and their Budapest concert will include popular compositions by some of the most important Russian composers. Ekaterina Mechetina, soloist of the evening, is the winner of seven international piano competitions, including the Busoni Competition in Bolzano and the World Piano Competition in Cincinnati. She has been a soloist with the Moscow Philharmonic since 2007 and a teacher at the Moscow Conservatory since 2009. In 2022, she published a handbook for teaching, among other things, the Piano Concerto No. 2, which will be performed at the concert.
